Goodbye Old Friend

A righteous person cares for the life of his animal,
but even the most compassionate acts of the wicked are cruel.

-Proverbs 12:10

Making the decision to move a family to another country is stressful.  We have thought through the loss of our Ohio ministry, the sale of our house, saying goodbye to our family and friends.  We have prepared our kids for countless losses both big and small. Yet, no matter how many contingencies we have thought through there have been many significant surprises.  One event that recently took us by surprise was that our beloved family pet, Dioghi was diagnosed with doggy cancer.

Today we said goodbye to Dioghi.

We are confident that the next six weeks (our final six weeks before our move) of our life will provide us with many emotional tripwires.  We humbly ask for your prayers as our family grieves the death of our dog and as we say our final goodbyes to our family and friends.

God Bless,

The Downings

  1. So sorry for your loss. I know this is extra hard at this time. Our prayers are with you. Give the kids our love too please.

  2. I will be praying for you and your kids as you transition through the goodbyes of the next 6 weeks and the hellos of the months that come after that. I remember the a road well from when I walked it with mom and dad (Karen and Jon) almost 20 years ago. Thank you for your faithfulness.
