Ministry Story: No Earthly Pastor

F99AD287-8C6E-4178-A551-70863CAE3CB8What do you do if you your church has no pastor? Well if you are in Quevedo you continue in ministry because every Christian is called to follow Christ. For some time now the Quevedo church has been operating without a pastor. How does that work? Well Christ is the head of the church and he gives us each a part of his mission.

He weaves each believer into the beautiful tapestry of the church. So much so that human leadership of church is somewhat over rated.

Under the leadership of Christ and through the power of the Holy Spirit the Quevedo Church is reaching out to the community around them and inviting whosoever will to become followers of Christ. This week they ministered to over 50 kids in their neighborhood!

They are truly living the prayer found in Hebrews chapter 13.

Now may the God of peace who by the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead the great shepherd of the sheep, our Lord Jesus Christ, equip you with every good thing to do his will, working in us what is pleasing before him through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever.

-Heb 13:20-21

Ministry Story: Quevedo

The humidity was thick but the joy was palpable as we walked through the doors of the Quevedo church.

The building that houses the Quevedo Church!

Quevedo is one of the most important agricultural centers of Ecuador and is the geographical point where all major roads in the region (including the Pan-American highway) intersect. The area surrounding Quevedo mainly produce bananas, corn, rice, and soybeans. The soils in the region generate excellent harvests year-round. Many banana producers complement their banana plantations with fields that produce corn, soy and rice during the rainy season.

We had the privilege of traveling with Brother Patricio and Sister Irma (The President and First Lady of the National Committee of the Church of God in Ecuador) to encourage the believers in Quevedo.

The church in Quevedo if full of friendly faces and dedicated believers. They are firmly planted in the thriving agriculture community. They are a light in a dark place as well. We could not help but notice a large number of brothels and night clubs in the area.

What a wonderful group of believers!

Please pray for our brothers and sisters as they shine the light in the darkness and witness for Christ.
