In the stillness of eternity’s dawn,
Where time’s relentless march finds pause,
The earth shall yield its silent treasure,
Multitudes emerging from their dusty slumber.
O, mortal frame, long laid to rest,
Hear now the trumpet’s clarion call!
The voice that once bid Lazarus rise
Now summons forth both small and great.
Some shall awaken to glory untold,
Robed in light, their faces aglow with joy.
These are they who washed their garments
In the Lamb’s redeeming blood.
Their eyes, once dim, now shine with holy fire,
Beholding Him whom their souls have loved.
“Well done,” He says, His voice like many waters,
“Enter now the joy prepared before time’s dawn.”
But hark! A mournful sound arises,
As others wake to shame’s harsh light.
Their deeds, once hidden, now laid bare,
Before the Judge of all the earth.
O, the anguish of that dread awakening!
To find one’s name absent from the Book of Life,
To stand condemned before Love’s piercing gaze,
Eternal contempt their bitter portion.
Yet even now, dear soul, the choice remains,
While breath still fills your mortal frame.
Will you heed Wisdom’s urgent plea?
“Choose life,” she cries, “that you may live!”
For He who holds the keys of death and Hades
Extends His nail-scarred hands to you.
In Him, the resurrection and the life,
Lies hope beyond the grave’s dark shadow.
So let us live with eternity’s weight upon our hearts,
Each moment pregnant with eternal consequence.
For we know not the hour of His return,
When every eye shall see Him, every knee shall bow.
May we be found faithful at His coming,
Our lamps trimmed, our hearts ablaze with love.
That when He bids the earth surrender its dead,
We may rise to meet Him, unashamed and unafraid.
O Lord of life, author of our salvation,
Grant us grace to live in light of that great day.
When multitudes shall rise from dust’s embrace,
May we awaken to everlasting life in Thee.
