The Unifying Power of the Gospel
We are freshly back from a mission trip to the Roma Lee Courvisier school in Reque, Perú, and our hearts are brimming with gratitude and awe at the transformative power of the Gospel. This journey was marked by an unprecedented collaboration between our Ecuadorian brothers and sisters and our friends from the Breiel Church of God in Middletown, Ohio. As we reflect on this experience, we are reminded of the words of the Apostle Paul, who declared, “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus” (Galatians 3:28). Indeed, our mission team, evenly comprised of ten Ecuadorians and ten Ohioans, stood as a living testament to the unifying power of the Gospel, transcending cultural, linguistic, and geographical boundaries.
A Pioneering Spirit
The idea of a joint mission trip, while perhaps not entirely novel, represents a pioneering spirit that we believe will serve as a model for future endeavors. By bringing together the experience and expertise of our brethren from Ohio with the passion, fresh perspective, and linguistic abilities of our Ecuadorian brothers and sisters, we were able to create a dynamic and effective ministry team. This collaborative approach allowed us to learn from one another, to challenge our assumptions, and to witness the manifold ways in which God is at work in His global Church.
The Power of Partnership
As we reflect on the success of this mission trip, we are convinced that this model of partnership is one that ought to be replicated and expanded. The Apostle Paul, in his letter to the Philippians, speaks of the importance of partnership in the Gospel, writing, “I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy, because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now” (Philippians 1:3-5). We are eager to explore the possibilities of future joint mission trips, and we extend an open invitation to any church or ministry that is planning to visit Latin America. Whether you would like to partner with us directly or with another ministry partner in the region, we have a group of Ecuadorian brothers and sisters who would be honored to join you in your endeavors. Alternatively, we would be delighted to assist you in thinking through the logistics of inviting one of your Latin American ministry partners to join you on the mission field.
The Witness of the Global Church
As we look ahead to the future, we are filled with a sense of hope and anticipation. The success of this joint mission trip to Perú is a testament to the vitality and resilience of the global Church. In a world that is increasingly fragmented and polarized, the witness of a unified Body of Christ, working together across cultural and linguistic divides, is more important than ever. We are reminded of the words of C.S. Lewis, who wrote, “The Church exists for nothing else but to draw men into Christ, to make them little Christs. If they are not doing that, all the cathedrals, clergy, missions, sermons, even the Bible itself, are simply a waste of time. God became Man for no other purpose.” May we, as the Church, continue to live out this high calling, drawing men and women into the transformative love of Christ, and bearing witness to the hope and healing that can be found only in Him.

Reflexiones sobre un viaje misionero pionero a Perú
El Poder Unificador del Evangelio
Acabamos de regresar de un viaje misionero a la escuela de RLC en Reque, Perú, y nuestros corazones rebosan de gratitud y asombro por el poder transformador del Evangelio. Este viaje estuvo marcado por una colaboración sin precedentes entre nuestros hermanos y hermanas ecuatorianos y nuestros amigos de la Iglesia de Dios Breiel en Middletown, Ohio. Al reflexionar sobre esta experiencia, recordamos las palabras del apóstol Pablo, quien declaró: “Ya no hay judío ni griego; no hay esclavo ni libre; no hay varón ni mujer, porque todos vosotros sois uno en Cristo Jesús” (Gálatas 3:28). De hecho, nuestro equipo misionero, compuesto por diez ecuatorianos y diez habitantes de Ohio, fue un testimonio vivo del poder unificador del Evangelio, que trasciende las fronteras culturales, lingüísticas y geográficas.
Un espíritu pionero
La idea de un viaje misionero conjunto, aunque quizá no sea del todo novedosa, representa un espíritu pionero que creemos que servirá de modelo para futuras iniciativas. Al unir la experiencia y los conocimientos de nuestros hermanos de Ohio con la pasión, la perspectiva fresca y las habilidades lingüísticas de nuestros hermanos y hermanas ecuatorianos, pudimos crear un equipo ministerial dinámico y eficaz. Este enfoque de colaboración nos permitió aprender unos de otros, desafiar nuestras suposiciones, y ser testigos de las múltiples formas en que Dios está trabajando en su Iglesia global.
El poder de la colaboración
Al reflexionar sobre el éxito de este viaje misionero, estamos convencidos de que este modelo de colaboración debería repetirse y ampliarse. El apóstol Pablo, en su carta a los filipenses, habla de la importancia de la colaboración en el Evangelio, escribiendo: “Doy gracias a mi Dios en todo lo que me acuerdo de vosotros, haciendo siempre mi oración con gozo por todos vosotros, por vuestra colaboración en el Evangelio desde el primer día hasta ahora” (Filipenses 1:3-5). Estamos ansiosos por explorar las posibilidades de futuros viajes misioneros conjuntos, y extendemos una invitación abierta a cualquier iglesia o ministerio que esté planeando visitar América Latina. Ya sea que deseen asociarse con nosotros directamente o con otro ministerio asociado en la región, tenemos un grupo de hermanos y hermanas ecuatorianos que estarían honrados de unirse a ustedes en sus esfuerzos. Alternativamente, estaríamos encantados de ayudarle a pensar en la logística de invitar a uno de sus socios ministeriales latinoamericanos a unirse a usted en el campo misionero.
El testimonio de la Iglesia mundial
Al mirar hacia el futuro, estamos llenos de esperanza y anticipación. El éxito de este viaje misionero conjunto a Perú es un testimonio de la vitalidad y resistencia de la Iglesia global. En un mundo cada vez más fragmentado y polarizado, el testimonio de un Cuerpo de Cristo unificado, que trabaja unido por encima de las divisiones culturales y lingüísticas, es más importante que nunca. Nos recuerdan las palabras de C.S. Lewis, que escribió: “La Iglesia no existe para otra cosa que para atraer a los hombres a Cristo, para hacer de ellos pequeños Cristos. Si no hacen eso, todas las catedrales, el clero, las misiones, los sermones, incluso la propia Biblia, son simplemente una pérdida de tiempo. Dios no se hizo Hombre para otra cosa”. Que nosotros, como Iglesia, sigamos viviendo esta alta vocación, atrayendo a hombres y mujeres hacia el amor transformador de Cristo, y dando testimonio de la esperanza y la curación que sólo pueden encontrarse en Él.
