Our First Week In Quito

We have experienced much during our first week in Quito.  We have been house hunting, figuring out where to buy groceries, (you can not find tortillas in cometé del pueblo), planing upcoming ministry opportunities, recording video greetings for churches back home (by request) and most importantly meeting new friends and reuniting with old friends.  We had five precious moments this week.

Our first morning we were visited by pastor Patricio and Mrs. Landínez.  They brought a wonderful welcome to us and made us feel at home.

On Saturday we enjoyed a uplifting time with many of the Ecuadorian Church of God pastors at their monthly meeting.  We were flooded with joy when we were given the privilege of speaking to our brothers and sisters in Christ.  Later we were flooded with another emotion, one that is hard to describe, as long term missionaries Jon and Karen Lambert read their last reports to the national committee.

After our first Pastor’s meeting pastor Pol Diaz and his family lingered a little longer and gave us much encouragement.  We walk in the confidence of knowing that we are loved and carried to the throne room of grace daily by this beautiful couple.

The day after our first official meeting as missionaries we were blessed to worship with our brothers and sisters in the Carapungo congregation.  Pastor Reyes preached a wounderful sermon followed by a beautiful time of communion and prayer.  One couple dedicated their lives to follow Jesus!

After a long day of house hunting this week we were visited by two lovely sisters in Christ Paola and Katia.  Sister Paola in her beautiful poetic way told us that she had to visit to see with her own eyes that we were really here.  These two ladies have the ability to make us forget that we struggle with speaking Spanish so much so that we found ourselves comfortabley conversing with them with very few embarrassing mistakes.

All in all we had a blessed week.  Here is a short video of a few prayer requests:

We are very blessed to be here!  Your ongoing support makes all the difference.  Without your prayers and financial gifts we couldn’t be here.  Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
