Due to the nature of our ministry here we are invited to many special events in the life of the Church. From marriage celebrations, Church Anniversaries, Children’s programs and baptisms we are honored to walk along side our Ecuadorian brothers and sisters.
Recently we had the privilege of participating in the baptism celebration of the Roldos Church. The Roldos neighborhood is perched high on a hill in the northern part of Quito. The neighborhood is densely populated and there is no river flowing through it. So, the Church took a day and visited a river near Nanegalito in the jungle.
Our National President (of the Iglesia de Dios Reformada), Pastor Patricio officiated the baptisms.
Pastor Patricio preaching on a hill overlooking the river! His natural pulpit was beautiful to say the least.Pastor Jorge and Pastor Patricio baptized, Timothy and Brother Mariano helped the candidates navigate the rocky walk from the shore to the Pastors. The baptisms were beautiful! The public testimony of baptism is always pulchritudinous. We always love seeing the joy baptism brings! After the Baptisms we cooled off in the river.Baptism celebrations are very festive in Ecuador. They usually last all day and include food, fun and fellowship. Often the congregation will swim after the baptisms.
Timothy and Angelita Downing are your missionaries in Ecuador. After serving Christ in pastoral ministry for 15 years they followed God's calling into missionary service.
