Long my imprisoned spirit lay
Fast bound in sin and nature’s night;
Thine eye diffused a quick’ning ray,
I woke, the dungeon flamed with light;
My chains fell off, my heart was free;
I rose, went forth and followed Thee. Amazing love! how can it be
That Thou, my God, should die for me!

We have all experienced times of darkness and despair when our spirits feel imprisoned and our hearts feel heavy. But we serve a God who is the light of the world, and He is always ready to shine His light into our lives and set us free.

The words of this beautiful hymn remind us of the amazing love of our Lord Jesus Christ, who willingly laid down His life for us. He is the one who sets us free from the chains of sin and darkness, and He invites us to follow Him.

Let us take a moment to reflect on the incredible love of our Savior and be encouraged by His presence in our lives. Let us thank Him for His mercy and grace, and for the freedom He has given us. Let us also thank Him for the light He has brought into our lives, and for the hope and joy that comes from following Him.

May we all be filled with the peace and joy of the Lord, and may we be reminded of His amazing love for us.
