“I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.”
Revelation 1:18
In the vast expanse of eternity,
Where time bows before the Infinite,
A voice resounds, both tender and mighty:
“I am the Living One.”
Once entombed in death’s cold embrace,
The Light of the World lay silent,
Creation held its breath in anguished suspense,
As heaven’s heart ceased to beat.
But lo! The grave could not contain Him,
Nor death’s chains bind the Author of Life.
He who spoke worlds into being
Burst forth in resurrection power.
“I was dead,” He proclaims,
Echoing through the corridors of history,
A testimony to love’s ultimate sacrifice,
The Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
Yet death’s victory was but a moment,
A fleeting shadow before the dawn.
For now He stands, radiant and triumphant,
Declaring, “I am alive for ever and ever!”
Oh, ponder this mystery, child of God:
The Eternal stooped to taste mortality,
That mortal man might put on immortality,
And death be swallowed up in victory.
In His nail-scarred hands, He holds the keys,
Not fashioned by earthly smiths,
But forged in the fires of divine love,
The keys to death and Hades.
No longer need we fear the grave’s chill,
Nor tremble at the thought of judgment.
For He who holds the keys is our Advocate,
Our Redeemer, our ever-living Lord.
In life, in death, in life beyond death,
He reigns supreme, the First and the Last.
Alpha and Omega, Beginning and End,
The One who was, and is, and is to come.
Oh soul, take heart in this unshakable truth:
Your Savior lives, and you shall live also.
Though earthly frames may fail and perish,
In Christ, eternal life is your inheritance.
Let every tongue confess, every knee bow,
Before the Living One who conquered death.
For in His resurrection, we find our hope,
In His eternal life, our assurance.
So lift your eyes beyond the veil of tears,
Fix your gaze on Heaven’s throne.
There sits the One who died and rose again,
Forever interceding for His own.
And when at last we stand before Him,
Clothed in His righteousness divine,
We’ll join the endless song of praise,
To the Living One, who makes all things new.
For He has promised, and He is faithful:
“Because I live, you also will live.”
In this hope we stand, in this truth we rest,
Until faith becomes sight, and we behold Him face to face.
Amen.
