There is a divine current that flows beneath the surface of our charted world, an undercurrent that pulls the heart of the faithful toward horizons beyond their own. It is a call, not to conquest, but to communion; not to claim territory, but to cultivate sacred ground. In the coming days, this very current will carry Timothy and a fellowship of Ecuadorian pastors across a familiar border into a land ripe with spiritual promise: Cajamarca, Peru. They embark on a pilgrimage of purpose, to teach a conference on the very lifeblood of our faith—the vibrant health of the local church.
Their guide will be the timeless wisdom found within “Returning to the Roots,” a humble offering of biblical principles designed to help congregations rediscover the thrumming, vital heartbeat of their first love. This journey is more than a trip; it is a testament, a living portrait of God’s kingdom refusing to be confined by the lines we draw on maps. It is a quiet, beautiful echo of the Great Commission, whispered anew in the Andes.
From a Single Seed, A Forest Grows
Every great work of God begins as a seed of faithfulness, planted in obedient soil. Last summer, this same Ecuadorian church family took their first tentative steps onto the mission field, arriving at the Roma Lee School in Reque, Peru. What they found there was holy ground, prepared by a Master Gardener for their arrival. The successes of that initial journey were not measured in earthly metrics, but in the currency of heaven: souls stirred, partnerships forged in the crucible of service, and a spiritual momentum that became an undeniable summons to return.
In that fertile soil, this second endeavor was conceived. Timothy, whose passion for biblical church health gave birth to “Returning to the Roots,” finds his own calling beautifully aligned with this blossoming vision. His work is not merely academic; it is the overflow of a life spent witnessing the quiet resurrection that occurs when a church dares to seek its authentic design in Scripture. And in that beautiful, messy, authentic space, the Lord moved with astonishing power.
This is why the health of the church matters with such eternal weight. A healthy church becomes a city on a hill, its light an irresistible beacon to a world stumbling in shadows. It advances the Gospel not through clever strategies, but through the magnetic beauty of a community living in grace. Timothy often shares how their own church was transformed when they shifted their focus from building impressive programs to cultivating a genuine family—a place where grace was more than a doctrine, but the very air they breathed. Perhaps it is through a financial gift, which in the economy of heaven becomes an eternal investment. Or perhaps, most profoundly, it is in asking your own soul a gentle, searching question: What borders is God calling me to cross for the sake of His love?

Oh, Sovereign Lord, whose love knows no boundaries, we consecrate this journey to You. Go before this team as their guide and their guard. Hay una corriente divina que fluye bajo la superficie de nuestro mundo cartografiado, una corriente subterránea que empuja el corazón de los fieles hacia horizontes más allá de los suyos. Es una llamada, no a la conquista, sino a la comunión; no a reclamar territorio, sino a cultivar terreno sagrado. En los próximos días, esta misma corriente llevará a Timothy y a un grupo de pastores ecuatorianos a través de una frontera familiar a una tierra llena de promesas espirituales: Cajamarca, Perú. Se embarcan en una peregrinación con un propósito: impartir una conferencia sobre la savia misma de nuestra fe: la vibrante salud de la iglesia local.

De una sola semilla crece un bosque
Toda gran obra de Dios comienza como una semilla de fidelidad, plantada en tierra obediente. El verano pasado, esta misma familia de la iglesia ecuatoriana dio sus primeros pasos tentativos en el campo misionero, llegando a la Escuela Roma Lee en Reque, Perú. Lo que encontraron allí fue tierra santa, preparada por un Maestro Jardinero para su llegada. Los éxitos de ese viaje inicial no se midieron en métricas terrenales, sino en la moneda del cielo: almas conmovidas, asociaciones forjadas en el crisol del servicio y un impulso espiritual que se convirtió en una innegable llamada a regresar.
En ese suelo fértil se concibió esta segunda empresa. Timothy, cuya pasión por la salud bíblica de la iglesia dio origen a “Retorno a las raíces”, encuentra su propia vocación maravillosamente alineada con esta visión floreciente. Su trabajo no es meramente académico; es el desbordamiento de una vida dedicada a ser testigo de la resurrección silenciosa que se produce cuando una iglesia se atreve a buscar su auténtico diseño en las Escrituras. Su corazón, junto con el de sus compañeros, late al ritmo de la visión del apóstol Pablo en Efesios 4: “equipar a los santos para la obra del ministerio, para la edificación del cuerpo de Cristo.” El recuerdo de la fidelidad de Dios en Reque les sirve de consigna, una piedra de recuerdo que prueba que Aquel que les llama es fiel para completar la obra que comienza.

Viajan a Cajamarca, una ciudad enclavada en las montañas, un lugar de historias antiguas y desafíos modernos. Es aquí, en medio de las presiones diarias que ponen a prueba la resistencia de los creyentes locales, donde la conferencia encenderá una vela contra la oscuridad, centrándose en la idea simple, pero revolucionaria, de la salud bíblica de la iglesia.
Las enseñanzas de “Volviendo a las raíces” no serán una fórmula rígida, sino una invitación a una danza sagrada: un retorno a los movimientos fundacionales del liderazgo semejante al de Cristo, la comunidad auténtica y el discipulado transformador. Sin embargo, esto será mucho más que una transferencia de información. Anticipamos momentos de adoración en los que el velo entre el cielo y la tierra se siente delgado, sesiones de oración en las que el Espíritu se mueve con suave autoridad, y comunión que une los corazones con las cuerdas irrompibles del amor divino. Porque es en estos momentos cuando la verdad pasa de la cabeza al corazón, convirtiéndose no sólo en un principio que hay que aprender, sino en una Presencia que hay que conocer.
El modelo de una Iglesia viva
En el centro mismo de esta misión hay una verdad profunda y liberadora: la vitalidad espiritual no es algo que podamos fabricar, sino algo que podemos cultivar. Como un pozo profundo y antiguo, los principios de una iglesia sana nos esperan en las páginas de las Escrituras. Basta con mirar a los primeros creyentes de Hechos 2, que “se dedicaban a la enseñanza de los apóstoles y a la comunión, a la fracción del pan y a las oraciones”. La suya no era una iglesia perfecta, pero era una iglesia presente, presente con Dios y con los demás. Y en ese espacio hermoso, desordenado y auténtico, el Señor se movía con un poder asombroso.
Por eso la salud de la Iglesia tiene un peso tan eterno. Una iglesia sana se convierte en una ciudad sobre una colina, su luz es un faro irresistible para un mundo que tropieza en las sombras. Hace avanzar el Evangelio no a través de estrategias inteligentes, sino a través de la belleza magnética de una comunidad que vive en la gracia. Timoteo comparte a menudo cómo su propia iglesia se transformó cuando cambiaron su enfoque de construir programas impresionantes a cultivar una familia genuina, un lugar donde la gracia era más que una doctrina, sino el aire mismo que respiraban. Como un árbol plantado junto a agua viva, empezaron a florecer, no mediante el esfuerzo, sino mediante la permanencia.
Las ondas de la gracia y nuestra invitación
¿Cuál podría ser el eco eterno de este encuentro en Cajamarca? Ya casi se pueden ver las ondas extendiéndose hacia fuera. Imagínense a los pastores peruanos regresando a sus congregaciones con fuerzas renovadas y una visión más clara. Imaginen un puente de comunión construido entre las iglesias de Ecuador y Perú, un poderoso testimonio de una unidad que trasciende la nacionalidad. Imaginen un nuevo fuego misionero encendido en los corazones de todos los testigos de este hermoso intercambio.
El salmista clama: “¡Declarad su gloria entre las naciones, sus maravillas entre todos los pueblos!”. (Salmo 96:3). Esta misión es un “Amén” silencioso y fiel a esa antigua llamada. Es una pequeña pincelada en la gran obra maestra que Dios está pintando a través de la historia, una obra maestra que un día se revelará como una gran multitud de todas las tribus y lenguas, adorando como una sola (Apocalipsis 7:9).
Así pues, la invitación se extiende a ti. ¿Cuál es tu lugar en esta historia sagrada? Tal vez sea en el tranquilo santuario de la oración, elevando a este equipo y a las iglesias de Perú. Tal vez a través de una donación económica, que en la economía del cielo se convierte en una inversión eterna. O tal vez, lo más profundo, es hacer a tu propia alma una pregunta suave y escrutadora: ¿Qué fronteras me llama Dios a cruzar por amor a Él?
Una bendición para el viaje
Mientras este equipo se encuentra en el umbral de su partida, nos invade una santa expectación. Este viaje es más que una conferencia; es un paso de fe en la gran epopeya de la redención de Dios. Es un recordatorio de que nuestros pequeños actos de obediencia pueden tener un significado profundo e inconmensurable en Sus manos.
Oh, Señor Soberano, cuyo amor no conoce fronteras, te consagramos este viaje. Acompaña a este equipo como su guía y su guardián. Que las palabras que pronuncien estén sazonadas con tu gracia, y que la comunión que compartan sea un anticipo del reino celestial. Oramos por la tierra de Cajamarca, para que esté suave y lista para recibir las semillas de la vida. Fortalece las manos y los corazones de los pastores peruanos que se reunirán, y haz que comience una poderosa obra de renovación, que dará fruto a las generaciones venideras. Y para nosotros, Señor, despierta nuestros corazones al campo de misión que nos has preparado, para que también nosotros seamos testigos fieles hasta los confines de la tierra. Te lo pedimos con corazones expectantes, en el poderoso y hermoso nombre de Jesús. Amén.
