Devotion 6: Joy in Reque’s Challenges

Beloved, let us heed the wisdom of James, who exhorts us to “consider it pure joy… whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance” (James 1:2-4). As we labor in the service of our Lord in Reque, let us embrace this truth, knowing that in every challenge lies an opportunity for growth and a deeper reliance on His grace.

The path of construction and cross-cultural ministry is not without its trials, yet in each one, we find a chance to witness the refining power of faith. As the Roma Lee Courvisier School perseveres through adversity, their steadfast dedication serves as a luminous example, inspiring us to find joy in the face of our own struggles, knowing that through them, God is glorified.

Reflect now on a potential challenge you may encounter during your time in Reque. Perhaps the heat will bear down upon you as you labor in construction, or cultural misunderstandings may arise as you navigate the complexities of ministry in a foreign land. In these moments, dear one, cling to the promise that God’s purpose is at work, molding you into a vessel fit for His use.

Let us unite our hearts in prayer: Almighty Father, grant us the grace to find joy amidst the challenges we face in Reque. Strengthen the staff and students of the Roma Lee Courvisier School, that they may persevere in faith, growing ever closer to You. May our trials be as a refining fire, purifying our hearts and drawing us nearer to Your presence. We ask this in the name of Your Son, our Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.
