Devotion 9: Rest for Reque’s Laborers

Beloved, let us find solace in the tender words of the Psalmist, who declared, “The Lord is my shepherd… he refreshes my soul” (Psalm 23:1-3). In the midst of our labors, whether it be the toil of construction or the joyful exhaustion of Vacation Bible School, we must remember that our God is a God of rest, who beckons us to find renewal in His presence.

As we pour ourselves out in service to the children and families of Reque, let us not neglect the care of our own souls. The work of the Roma Lee Courvisier School is a sacred calling, but even the most devoted laborers need moments of respite to continue their mission with fervor and grace.

In the midst of our trip, carve out a sacred space for rest and reflection. Step away from the noise and chaos, and allow yourself to be still in the presence of the Lord. Meditate on His goodness, His faithfulness, and His unwavering love for you. As you do, feel the burdens of your heart grow lighter, and your spirit renewed with fresh strength.

Consider, too, how you might encourage the staff of the Roma Lee Courvisier School to find their rest in Christ. Perhaps it is through a word of encouragement, a prayer spoken over them, or a simple act of service that allows them a moment of pause. In doing so, you become a vessel of God’s grace, pointing them to the One who is their ultimate source of rest and renewal.

Let us pray: O Shepherd God, You who lead us beside still waters and restore our souls, we come to You in our weariness and exhaustion. Refresh our team and the staff of the Roma Lee Courvisier School with Your holy presence. Remind us that our strength comes not from ourselves, but from You alone. As we serve the children and families of Reque, may we find our rest and our hope in You. In the name of Jesus, our eternal rest, we pray. Amen.
